Santiago Calatrava’s exhibition at Georgia Tech brings together a unique selection of models, as well as architectural and artistic drawings that display the conception and design of 13 selected projects from around the world and in the USA. "Exploring the Art of Construction" is on exhibit until March 16, 2017, and may be seen at the Caddell Building exhibit space, at 280 Ferst Drive, NW.

ACM Transactions on Graphics We present a new motion model, deformable motion models, for human motion modeling and synthesis. Our key idea is to apply statistical analysis techniques to a set of precaptured human motion data and construct a low-dimensional deformable motion model. Motion geometric and timing variations could be controlled via a small number of deformable paramters. To generate a desired animation, we continuously adjust the deformable parameters' values to match various forms of user specified constraints. Mathematically, we formulate the constraint based motion synthesis problem in a maximum a posteriori (MAP) framework by estimating the most likely deformable parameters from the user's input. Our approach, dubbed the Dropout Autoencoder LSTM (DAE-LSTM), is capable of synthesizing natural looking motion sequences over long-time horizons without catastrophic drift or motion degradation. The model consists of two components, a 3-layer recurrent neural network to model temporal aspects and a novel autoencoder that is trained to implicitly recover the spatial structure of the human skeleton via randomly removing information about joints during training.
